Sydney Hering

Sydney is a new hire with Illinois Public Risk Fund as a claims advocate in the workers’ compensation department. She has over 4 years of experience specializing in claims and takes pride in guiding injured workers through the claims process with empathy and clarity to ensure they receive the support and benefits needed to recover/return to work.

Her career began as a medical-only examiner shortly after graduating from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in sociology. She transitioned into managing workers’ compensation indemnity claims where she has developed a deeper expertise in claim investigation, legal compliance, benefit calculation, and effective communication with all involved parties. She is motivated by advocating for injured workers, positive collaboration with colleagues, and professional growth.

On her free time, she loves playing volleyball, spending time with family/friends, and playing with her 6-month-old puppy, Benson.
